The first thing we did was go to the children's zoo. As many times as we've been to the zoo, we had never been to this part. I was expecting it to be just a petting zoo, but we actually ended up spending the better part of an hour there looking at all the exhibits, making crafts, and of course, petting the "amals."

This is a little mouse in a bread house. The mouse's aquarium has a habitrail in it and it is also on top of a "habitrail" for kids to crawl through. Cade loved the mouse house. They make the mice a new loaf of bread every week.

This is Cade's new buddy. He followed this guy all around the petting zoo. When the petting zoo first opened, around the time the zoo itself opened, there used to be baby giraffes and other exotics in the children's petting zoo. Now it's barnyard animals, but frankly in this part of the world, a goat is pretty darn exotic...

Cade liked this lizard bench and wanted a "ride." So we took the opportunity to get a pic.

These guys were stilt walkers that put on a show at night. We didn't stay for the show, but did get to catch this photo op.

Daddy and Cade went through a bug house that strollers weren't allowed into, so Reid and I waited and had some quality time.

And he got to try on his big brother's hat just for fun. (Don't tell Cade...)

We saw an otter playing. Cade really laughed at this guy.
A frosty treat at the zoo. Cade thinks dippin dots are pretty darn good. (Note the position of the hat, he does that all by himself. He's also a fan of the "hat on sideways.")
Hey! This zoo is full of monkeys!

There is a zebra in this picture, I swear.
The "zebas" were pretty much the last animals this kid saw. He was very disappointed that he could not go into the cage and pet them. It was getting late in the day and he pretty much walked the entire time. He did not, did not, did not want to get in the stroller, but we finally forced him around this time. He was so grumpy about it that we skimmed past the rest of the zoo and he fell asleep in the car in about 45 seconds. He is already wanting to go back and go on the skyfari. Yes, that's right. The child who is so afraid of falling that he won't let me change his diaper on the couch, wants to go a million miles in the air. I wonder how many visits "Maybe next time" will work...
As an aside: Reid got his third tooth this week and will be 7 months tomorrow!
